DO NOT STAY HERE! TRUST ME! THIS PLACE IS GOD-AWFUL! You can find much better options! THIS IS A GOD-AWFUL PLACE RUN BY GOD-AWFUL PEOPLE. Please heed my advice, save yourself the trouble, and DO NOT STAY HERE!
These people give an awful name to the Turks (who are generally very hospitable, polite, friendly people). They are dishonest and are cutting corners to make money. This is NO place to stay when in Turkey. I would give this hotel zero stars, but unfortunately that is not an option...I guess they did have free wifi...But you can find much better options!
Here is my story...
First, the beds are not properly made. There are no fitted sheets on the bed. They use a top sheet (without the elastic) so when you sleep, you end up on the mattress (GROSS!) I asked why this was, and the boy said that's how they do it (even though there video in the foyer advertising the place shows a proper made bed). It was very late, so I requested another top sheet so I could use it as a blanket since the AC was not working, the room was hot, and the blanket provided was much too thick. He said there were no extra sheets. So I said how does a hotel not have extra linens...He did end up finding one that he pulled out of the dryer. It was a bit damp, but it would do for the night. I requested the bed be properly made the next day.
I then looked around the room (they are very tiny). The shower was moldy and the cup they left for water looked like it had never been cleaned. There were little hairs on the wall where someone's bear trimmings probably scattered and there was a hole in the wall by the toilet exposing pipes. It was filthy and obvious it was not cleaned(please see my pictures). But we got in very late so decided to stay the night and then we would weigh our options in the morning.
At breakfast, (which was mediocre...I've had better continental breakfasts in Turkey at budget hotels) the managers did not greet us (which I found very unusual for a B&B). However, they did decide to spray Febreze (a room deodorizer spray) around the room while everyone was eating. Then when we came back from site seeing for the day, the manager was on the couch smoking and watching TV and asked my friend and me why we didn't say hi this morning and ask how he was doing. Why we didn't say hi?!?! We are your guests!!! You greet us! That's hospitality 101. That comment really set me over the edge.
When I saw the bed still was not made properly again, I requested it be made properly, but the staff boy said they didn't have any extra linens (again I was amazed at how a B&B/hotel did not have extra linens...also this is Turkey. You can run down to the market and get plenty of new linens at a very cheap price). I then requested additional pillows so I could elevate my feet to prevent swelling from walking all day. He came back with one extra pillow and said that he had to take it from another room, like he had done me a huge favor. Seriously, what kind of hotel doesn't have extra pillows/linens/towels etc. available!!! Despite not having extra linens, the top sheet and pillow cases we did have were ripped and stained. At this point I called booking.com to let them know I was not getting what I paid for. Booking called the hotel and the hotel boy and manger told booking they would work with us. The manager then offered us a better room, but my friend requested to see it first before we moved our stuff. It was no better. The bed again was not properly made. When I saw this, I asked the hotel boy if this is how his mother made his bed without proper sheets with elastic that covers the mattress? There was a bit of back and forth, but I never raised my voice or got rude. I was just being very a matter of fact and trying to come to a consensus on how we could receive better cleaner services. The boy then said the we were lucky to have one pillow because the hotel could chose to provide none and we could sleep on our arms. My friend then told him he was being disrespectful and he said likewise. At this point I could not stay here. I told the manager I did not want to stay and he said we could get a refund for the nights we are not staying, but he would have to wait for the owner to approve it and the owner would be there in the morning. So he instructed me to call around 12pm the next day. Booking also arranged for me to get my money back. So my friend and I went to a hostile that was immaculate for $25 a day. It's called #BUNK if you are a young traveler and looking for a cheap place to stay.
I never got my refund booking.com promised from Cozy for the 4 nights I did not stay because of their lack of service. I called the hotel as instructed but the owner was never there. Booking.com also could not reach the hotel. In fact, when I checked my credit card statement they had charged me twice!!! This hotel owes me over $500. I now am disputing with my credit card company.
